Nǐ hǎo! Hello!

On the 8th of February, our GCSE Mandarin students from Year 10 and Year 11 hosted a teaparty to celebrate Chinese New Year (year of the Dog). They served green tea to teachers, students and other staff who were passing through the Secondary dining room. Our students have no race or cultural barriers. They instead develop and practice principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity, (EDI). The Drama department also put on videos and other interactive activities about the Peking Opera, so that we all learned more about it, one of the best examples of Chinese culture as well as being listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2016.

It was a really interesting morning where we learnt, in a bit more depth, things about oriental culture, the same culture that so fascinated Marco Polo.
