Caring for others, a charitable spirit and participation in philanthropic initiatives are part of the day to day at our School, and an example of what our students recognise as one of the schools 5 values: Caring.

This year we have renewed the agreement between the British Council School and la Fundación Científica de la Asociación Española contra el Cáncer (AECC) to award this year’s BIOOR research grant to Luis Miguel Alonso, doctor of Biología at the Madrid Complutense Universidad, in the cellular biology department and winner of the previous BIOOR research grant.

Mrs Isabel Orbe, general director of the Fundación Científica de la AECC, and Ms. Gillian Flaxman, the Headteacher of the British Council School attended the ceremony, where Luis Miguel explained the importance of this research, and the urgent need to find solutions and treatments for this condition to a group of our Primary students.

The speakers answered the questions of our attentive and curious students, and Ms Macu, our nurse, invited the students to participate in the coming BIOOR Fair. This year, our 12th, parents, students, and the whole school community will come together again to raise funds in the BIOOR Christmas Fair, on Saturday 28th November, to contribute to future AECC research projects via the BIOOR Research Grantnvestigación a través de BIOOR.
