Hard Rock cartel

A full-house and a total success for the best charity rock and jazz at our School. The British Council's Rock Band and Big Band performed at the Hard Rock Café, on the 31st of March. This was a charity concert in support of the Children's Musictherapy at the La Paz University Hospital and more specifically for the local project “Hard Rock Room” which will take place through 2017.

Up to now the collaboration between the Hard Rock Cafe Madrid and the  hospital has been around buying new instruments, providing more direct support in various units and the start of new research projects with the aim of evaluating music therapy. Since the start of the programme in 2003, almost 4000 children have benefited from music therapy, with a clear improvement in patients, both physically and psychologically.

For yet another year, our talented youngsters have shown their musical commitment and enthusiasm for a project which provides so much for sick children.

The University Hospital La Paz initially launched its Musictherapy Project in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit but this has been gradually expanded to include Nephrology (Dialysis), Pediatric Oncology, trasplants and some of the units in the Neo-natal Service. More recently it has also included family and carers of older patients suffering from Alzheimer's, in order to relieve the emotional pressure and strain which these feel during this lengthy disease.
