On the 1st of October, Early Years students celebrated the International Day of Older People by inviting their grandparents, uncles or another “older” person with whom they have a close relationship, to visit their classroom. They were able to share with them stories and other exciting experiences about their daily lives and about when they themselves were young and went to school. This made their connection even stronger than it was before.

Throughout the week, the youngest children in School also brought in photos with their elders and during assemblies, told their classmates why they were such special people for them.

Our elders look after us, spoil us, guide us without being too demanding; they tell us stories about the family and about their lives; they teach us popular games. These are the reasons why we want to celebrate this day alongside them. Whoever has a grandfather, has a real treasure!

Happy International Day of Older People!
