We are finishing November, a month full of sporting success across several different disciplines: Our Girls from Year 9 to Year 13 came runners-up at the Infant/Junior 7-a-side Football Championship organised by Kings College. And at the International Schools´ Cross Country Championship our runners won a good number of medals in different categories.
The School firmly believes in the importance of Sport. That´s why we encourage our students to practice Sport and compete from an early age. As well as promoting fitness, Sport and sporting competitions are a challenge, they develop leadership skills, help students to overcome difficulties, improve their self-confidence and show them how important it is to work as a team.
Testimony to all of this, was the great skill shown by our players at the Infant/Junior 7-a-side Football Tournament not just with their sporting prowess, finishing on some incredible stats: 5 games played, 4 wins, 14 goals for and only 5 against. But also with their exemplary behaviour, respect and sportsmanship. Together with their great play and effort, this was fully appreciated by their opponents, the referees and all the teachers from the other Schools.
We are also very proud of the effort shown by our students in the Cross Country Championship which took place in Alcobendas. This athletics discipline usually allows our students to get away from the School and spend a day out in the countryside, even if, on this occasion, the event was held in an indoor sports centre.
Even so, competing against other Madrid Schools, got the adrenalin flowing and made it a special sporting event, with a good clutch of medals: two silver in Junior category (800 metres); a gold in Infants Category (1200 metres); a silver and a bronze in the Girls Senior Category and a silver in the Boys Senior Category. As well as several other 4th places in Junior Category (1400 metres).
Our most sincere congratulations to all of our competitors on their incredible effort and determination, for taking up the challenge, for not giving up, for their sportsmanship and their courage. You make the School feel very proud.
