Good play, tenacity, teamwork, sportsmanship and concentration...These were some of the values which were evident in our players, during the Junior and Youth Tournament for International Schools which took place on the 17th of December. Our Girls from Year 10 to Year 13 who were representing the School in this competition, organized by King´s School, gave their very best, fighting right on until the end to win the championship, undoubtedly the best side.
It is a difficult competition to win with teams playing at a very good level. Our players won two out of their three group phase matches, moving onto the next stage of the competition, second in their Group. We won against ICS in a thrilling 4-3 finish; lost against the hosts 1-0 and then we won again against Runnymede, 2-0.
It was a very hard fought semi-final against ISM, who had won the other Group. After a very exciting match which finished in a 1-1 draw at full-time, it was during extra-time when our Girls really proved that they could win a high pressure battle of nerves, concentrate on their game and show their technique and excellent play. The game ended 3-1 in our favour which put us into the final, full of expectation and really wanting to win.
And, in the final against Montessori, our team again proved that they are a very cohesive side with great technique and very tenacious both in attack and in defense, which allowed them to win through, and become Champions in this exciting competition.
Our most sincere congratulations on this great win, both to the players themselves and also to all the coaches. Let´s keep going, let´s keep winning!
